Abstract

Heynig, H.: Morphological and taxonomical studies on selected plankton species of reservoirs of the Eastern Ore Mts. (Saxony, Germany). – Hercynia N.F. 40 (2007): 41–62.
The present paper is introduced by some information on four storage reservoirs, their water quality and utilisation (drinking water or industry and recreation). The methods of sampling and investigation are described. The main interest was taken on the composition of phytoplankton but also the zooplankton was not neglected. Especially 24 species of the phytoplankton and 20 species of the zooplankton are described more in detail and most of them are illustrated by drawings of the author. These examples are selected from the whole plankton community (167 species of the phytoplankton and 53 species of the zooplankton) listed in a previous paper (Heynig 2005). The author is hopeful that this publication will be a base for later investigations or the comparison with the former state of the plankton community of these reservoirs.
